Dr. David Frankel is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also serves as the Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Frankel received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Frankel then returned to Penn for fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and cardiac electrophysiology. He has served on the electrophysiology faculty at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania since 2011. He is board certified in clinical cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular medicine.
Dr. Frankel specializes in ablation of supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, PVCs and ventricular tachycardia, as well as implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators. Dr. Frankel’s research focuses on improving outcomes in complex catheter ablation, with particular emphasis on ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. His research has been published in JAMA Cardiology, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm, Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology and other leading medical journals.
